This one I thumbnailed and then drew directly onto a sheet of ProArt Marker paper with a trusty blue pencil. Usually the thumbnail turns into a rough ink drawing on a sheet of paper. Then I put the marker paper over that and trace over it in blue pencil. That's followed by tracing over the blue pencil with regular pencil, some hot scanner action and then the morass known as drawing in Photoshop.
Skipping a step really didn't make any difference. It still took too long to draw and the end result is lacking in most regards. I do like the heart thought hovering above Roger's head though.
